Sovcomflot Group
Russia’s largest shipping company and one of the global leaders in marine transportation of hydrocarbons (crude oil and petroleum products, liquefied gas) and in transport servicing of oil and gas projects on the continental shelf, including offshore seismic exploration
Key events and achievements
Over 2018, Sovcomflot has implemented a series of projects in cooperation with the main charterers. The start of commercial operations of the Green Aframax tanker series was one of the most conspicuous amongst them. This project was implemented together with Shell. Besides, the fleet of multifunctional icebreaking vessels, servicing oil & gas projects offshore Sakhalin, was reinforced with another vessel of the series Yevgeny Primakov. The cooperation with Novatek has seen its further success, when the icebreaking gas carrier Christophe de Margerie loaded the first cargo from Yamal LNG’s third train. The LNGCs Pskov and SCF Melampus started the open water ship-to-ship operations that marked a new stage in the development of the logistics system for delivery of gas from the Arctic to consumers.
SCF's global environmental initiative
In 2018 Sovcomflot put into operation the world's first Aframax tankers specially designed to run on LNG. The Company, in partnership with Shell, set a new standard for environmental sustainability in maritime shipping
